Founded in 1986, Heritage House was a former Nurses’ Home serving Wells-next-the-Sea Hospital. When the decision came for the Area Health Authority to close the Home, a group of far-sighted local people saw this as an opportunity to acquire the building and set up a much needed Day Care facility to serve the needs of the elderly and frail living in this essentially rural area.
Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and Heritage House now opens 5 days a week. Currently helping up to 90 different people each week, we can offer 26 places each day providing Day Visitors with one or more days per week as needed. Each Day Visitor, their families and carers benefit from the work that we do to ensure that the elderly and frail of north Norfolk don’t feel isolated or lonely but can share in the companionship that is provided.
