THE QUEENS AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE
Heritage House Day Care Centre has been granted the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Vital to the running of Heritage House are the volunteers. Without them we could not function. The transport to and from Heritage House is provided by volunteers , either using their own cars or driving or assisting on one of our three accessable ambulances. Volunteers also help each day by socialsing with the Day Visitors, playing board games, running an art class, leading seated exercise groups, giving therapeutic massage, providing music for sing-songs and assisting at meal times. Some volunteers help in the kitchen with food preparation and clearing up. Others assist in the essential undertaking of fund-raising, without which Heritage House could not survive.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is an annual award given for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers who regularly devote their time to helping others in the community, improving the quality of life and opportunity for others, and providing an outstanding service.
It is the highest accolade that can be made to a volunteer group and is equivalent to the MBE for an individual.
COMING TO THE AREA ON HOLIDAY?
For those of you reading this that are planning on holidaying in the area, maybe with an older relative, we have the availability of a bathing service or, if your older relative does not fancy a day at The Dinosaur Park or Pleasurewood Hills, we can offer a day at Heritage House! We are open every weekday, excluding bank holidays, from 9.30 until 3pm. We also have a range of wheelchairs, walking aids, raised toilet seats and commodes to borrow.
